Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
The short version
- Scout keeps your resume, preferences, the roles it finds, your decisions and the materials it drafts, so it can run your search.
- To judge roles and draft documents, Scout sends your resume and preferences to AI models through a service called OpenRouter.
- For Path in, Scout asks a people-data provider about the employer and the role. It does not send that provider your resume, name or email.
- Stripe handles payments. Scout never sees or stores your card number.
- We do not sell your information, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking cookies.
- Email jimmy@auncollective.com to see, correct or delete your information.
01Who we are and what this covers
Scout is a personal AI job-search service run by Aun Collective. “We” and “us” mean Aun Collective.
This policy covers the Scout app at scout.auncollective.com, the emails Scout sends, and the Scout pages on auncollective.com. It sits alongside our Terms of Service.
02Information you give us
- Account details: your name and email address.
- Your resume: the file you upload (or the text you paste) and the text Scout reads from it. Scout keeps earlier versions when you upload a new one.
- Preferences and answers: what you tell Scout about the work you want, such as your home state, minimum base pay, languages, work preferences, motivations and the roles and places to search.
- Your activity in Scout: the roles you save, pass on or pursue, the feedback and corrections you give, the applications you track, and roles you add by web address.
- Messages to us: anything you send us by email.
03Information Scout creates or collects
- Your search: the scouting profile and search settings built from your resume and answers, the roles Scout finds, and its assessments and fit scores.
- Materials: resume edits, cover letters and screening-call preparation drafted for you.
- Path in results: for roles you choose, the people Scout suggests at that employer, with the professional details the people-data provider holds about them (such as name, job title, employer, location, work history and education) and Scout's reasons.
- Sign-in records: when you first signed in, and the one-time sign-in links we send.
- Basic usage: the calendar dates on which you opened Scout and which roles you viewed on each date. We do not record the time of day, the pages you moved between, or your device. We keep these records for 180 days.
- Email link use: links in new-role emails are signed links to Scout. When you use one, Scout records which roles in that email you opened and through which link. It does not record when. We keep these records for 180 days.
- Email delivery: whether an email was sent, and for the Monday brief, the delivery status our email provider reports.
- Billing status: your plan, subscription status, trial and billing-period end dates, whether you have cancelled, and the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe gives us.
- Usage costs: a record of each AI request and data lookup made for your search and what it cost, so we can keep spending within limits.
When you connect to Scout, our servers briefly use your IP address to limit repeated sign-up attempts. Scout does not store it. Our hosting provider may process standard request information, such as IP addresses, to run and protect its network.
04How we use your information
- to run your search, judge roles, publish your board and draft the materials you ask for;
- to send sign-in links, new-role emails, the Monday brief and service messages;
- to manage your subscription and enforce plan limits and spending caps;
- to give support, fix problems and keep Scout secure;
- to improve Scout. For example, we check how Scout's assessments compared with the decisions you made, and we may compare how different AI models handle the same search. A comparison sends the same kinds of information to the additional models, through the same route described in section 6.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
05Payments
Stripe runs checkout and the customer portal you reach from Billing in Scout. You enter your card details on Stripe's pages. Scout never sees or stores your card number. We send Stripe your name and email to set up your subscription, and Stripe tells us your subscription status. Stripe may send you receipts. Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.
06How AI processes your information
Scout uses AI models to build your scouting profile, judge roles, rank Path in suggestions, and draft resume edits, cover letters, call preparation and the Monday brief. To do this, Scout sends the relevant information, including your resume text, your answers and preferences, and job postings, to AI models.
These requests go through OpenRouter, which routes them to model providers such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Perplexity. Some requests use search-capable models or web-search tools offered through OpenRouter; those receive search queries about roles, employers and your field. Each provider handles the data under its own terms and policies, including how long it keeps requests and whether it uses them. We do not control those practices.
What Scout does control:
- Scout sends only what a task needs: your resume and preferences for assessments and documents, and role and employer details for searches.
- Scout issues each new account its own OpenRouter key with a monthly spending limit. The key is stored encrypted and is revoked when your account is deleted.
- Scout never has your card details, and it does not send your sign-in links to AI models.
07Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Scout, and only what each one needs:
- Stripe
- Payments and subscriptions. Receives your name, email and the details you enter at checkout.
- OpenRouter, and the AI model providers it routes to
- AI processing, as described in section 6. Receives your resume text, preferences and related job information.
- Crustdata
- People and company data for Path in. Scout sends the employer's name, website or company page, and details of the role, such as its title keywords, level and location. Scout does not send Crustdata your resume, name or email. Scout checks for schools and employers you share with the people it finds itself, inside Scout.
- Resend
- Sends Scout's emails. Receives your email address and the content of each email, such as the roles in a new-role email.
- Railway
- Hosts Scout and stores its data in the United States.
- Google Fonts
- Scout's pages load typefaces from Google's servers, so your browser connects to Google and shares standard request information, such as your IP address.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of people or of Scout, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
We never share your information with employers or recruiters. Scout does not apply for jobs or contact anyone for you.
08Cookies and browser storage
Scout uses one first-party cookie, which keeps you signed in. It is marked HttpOnly and Secure, so page scripts cannot read it and it is only sent over encrypted connections. It lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out. If you sign in to more than one Scout account in the same browser, the same cookie remembers each of them.
While you sign up, the sign-up page keeps the details you entered in your browser tab, so it can show them after checkout. That storage stays in your browser and ends when you close the tab.
Scout and the Scout pages on auncollective.com use no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics. Stripe's checkout and billing pages are run by Stripe and may set Stripe's own cookies, for example to prevent fraud.
09Where your information is kept
Scout runs on Railway in the United States, and your workspace is stored on a private storage volume there. Our service providers, including the AI model providers OpenRouter routes to, may process information in the United States or other countries under their own terms.
10How we protect it
- Each person's information is kept in a separate workspace on a private storage volume.
- Each person's AI key is sealed with encryption (AES-256-GCM).
- Scout is served only over HTTPS. Sign-in links work once and expire after 15 minutes; the first link after sign-up lasts three days.
- Access to workspaces is limited to the Scout administrator, who uses it to run, support and improve Scout.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
11How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information while your account exists, including after you cancel, so you can pick up where you left off if you subscribe again. Usage and email-link records are kept for 180 days.
To delete your account, email jimmy@auncollective.com from the address you use for Scout. The administrator then deletes your workspace. That removes your resume, preferences, roles, materials and records from Scout's storage, revokes your AI key, and ends any active subscription.
Some information is kept outside Scout after deletion:
- Stripe keeps billing and payment records as the law requires.
- Resend, OpenRouter, the AI model providers and Crustdata may keep logs of requests under their own retention policies.
To see or correct your information, email the same address. You can also change your resume, preferences and email settings in Scout at any time. We aim to answer requests within 30 days.
12Your choices about email
You can set new-role emails to daily, weekly or off, and turn the Monday brief on or off, in Scout's settings. We will still send sign-in links and messages about your account and billing.
13Who Scout is for
Scout is for adults in the United States. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know what information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, and to delete it. We honor these requests from every Scout user, wherever they live. Email jimmy@auncollective.com. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Scout changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and if a change is material, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect.
